Air Ventures PDK - Instrument Rating

Whether you have been flying for a few months or a few years, you know that VFR weather is never guaranteed. An instrument rating is the best investment you can make in both your own safety and in making your flying more productive. By having an instrument rating, a foggy morning will no longer mean that you have to postpone or cancel a spectacular weekend trip.

Air Ventures PDK uses the Jeppesen Instrument Pilot curriculum. Jeppesen not only makes the aeronautical charts used by most airlines and corporate flight departments, it is part of the world's largest aircraft manufacturer: Boeing. Flight lessons are structured with a building-block approach so that you and your instructor can measure your progress.

To obtain an instrument rating, the FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours of flight instruction, flying solely by reference to instruments. In addition, you must also accumulate 50 hours of cross-country flying as pilot in command. This cross-country requirement can be completed prior to, or concurrent with, your instrument training.

Air Ventures PDK uses the Cessna 172SP for instrument rating training. The student has the choice of training with conventional avionics or using the Garmin G1000 glass cockpit. In either case, your training will make you a safe, all-weather pilot. The instrument rating course typically takes between three months and six months as long as you fly twice a week. Don't worry, scheduling flying lessons around your schedule is easy: Air Ventures PDK is open seven days a week! Call our dispatch desk at (770) 458-0001 ext. 2 to get started.
